What patients check before they book a consultation

A referral or a reel starts it. A search finishes it. Here is what a patient looks at in the minutes before they choose a doctor.

Almost no one books a consultation straight from a reel or a recommendation. They hear your name, then they search it. What they find in the next few minutes decides whether they book you or the doctor who looked more established.

The checklist patients run without thinking

  • Your own website, and whether it shows up before a clinic team page
  • Recent reviews, in numbers that feel real
  • Medical directory profiles with a photo, the right treatments and a booking link
  • Something they can hear or read: a podcast episode, an article, a press mention
  • Video that answers the questions they were too shy to ask

Instagram is only one item on that list. Most doctors put all their effort into it, then wonder why enquiries don’t move.

Where to start

Open a private browser window and search your name with your specialty. Note what is missing, out of date or belongs to someone else. That list is your first month of work.
